Get the low-down on full blooded red blends on Friday, 22 August at Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate in Franschhoek when Cellarmaster Karl Lambour and Chef Darren Badenhorst team up with other cellars for their monthly Wine & Dine Collaboration.
With fellow winemakers the calibre of Miles Mossop of Miles Mossop Wines, Gavin Bruwer Slabbert of Raats Family Vineyards and Sebastian Beaumont of Beaumont Wines, the evening promises to be a wine and food affair of note.
“Crafting a red blend that is bigger than the sum of its parts is nothing short of mastery and we are privileged to share some of the Cape’s finest examples along with our own The Grande Provence 2011,” says Karl Lambour, Cellarmaster at Grande Provence.
Taking centre stage at the Wine & Dine Collaboration along with the Grande Provence flagship are Miles Mossop Max 2010, Beaumont Vitruvian 2011 and Raats Family Red Jasper 2013.
“We hope that the evening will give guests a better understanding of how different winemaking philosophies and blending practices can influence the taste and overall quality of a wine,” Karl adds.
To accentuate the flavours in these diverse wines, Grande Provence Chef Darren Badenhorst has created a decadent six-course dinner to match each of these magnificent reds. “I have enjoyed the challenge of designing a menu for these exceptional blends,” says Darren, who relishes the opportunity of letting his imagination run wild in the kitchen, putting the Grande Provence panache into every dish.
The Wine & Dine collaboration dinner takes place at The Restaurant at Grande Provence on Friday, 22 August 2014, starting at 19h00. To book your seat at R495 per person, contact Barbara Mouton on 021 876 8600 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
