Gallery at Grande Provence decked out with trio of exhibitions in October

Paula van Coller, Grace da Costa & Gunter Obojkovits – Sunday, 11 October to Monday, 26 October

The Gallery at Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate in Franschhoek is presenting a visual feast in October with three solo exhibitions opening on Sunday, 11 October.

Visitors can look forward to being (human) by painter/sculptor Grace da Costa, bloom by visual artist Paula van Coller and syntax with mixed media works from Gunter Obojkovits.

Gallery director Trent Read notes that Da Costa is equally adept in both her art forms, and that her paintings are layered and complex. “She is concerned with the human body in all its manifestations and her sculpture runs the spectrum of both size and mood, from the witty and gentle to more contemplative pieces.”

Visual artist Paula van Coller will bring her signature works infused with plant motifs to life with bloom. “Art became the medium through which I processed my observations of happiness and grief. All these issues found reflection in my work – with plants, flowers and bulbs symbolising the necessity to adapt, change, conform and flourish,” says van Coller.

Austrian artist Gunter Obojkovits will present a myriad of mixed media works with syntax. “The Syntax show reflects a panoptic view, an aggregation; the gathering of things together. Composed of many distinct parts and finding the syntax in between,” says the artist.

Open from 09h00 to 17h00 daily, The Gallery at Grande Provence will feature the three October solo exhibitions from Sunday, 11 October at 11h00 until Monday, 26 October, with Angels Tears wine served at the opening. Visitors attending the opening can book for a special two-course lunch at The Restaurant at R300 per person, phone 021 876 8644 or e-mail to book.
