Stay out of the kitchen on Christmas day and treat your family to a yuletide feast at Bistro Sixteen82, Steenberg’s trendy cellar-door restaurant situated in the heart of Constantia.
With a 5-course set menu with options for children and vegetarians, Christmas lunch guests are spoilt for choice especially when pairing each dish with a fine Steenberg wine.
Chef Kerry Kilpin has created a variety of dishes to suit all ages and tastes starting with a panko-crusted three-cheese fritter to trigger your appetite. Other dishes on her festive menu include sesame crusted seared fish carpaccio, pan-fried vannamei prawns, and confit Springbok, all presented with her signature fresh, Asian inspired twist.
Vegetarians can tuck into sesame crusted avo carpaccio and a colourful dish of flash fried cherry tomatoes, asparagus and artichoke velouté, followed by a vegetable stack, truffled cauliflower purée and pickled exotic mushrooms.
Children can look forward to a treat of crispy prawns and a juicy beef sirloin with potato bake, sweet carrots and peas.
For dessert, mango bavarois is served with cocoa butter ice cream and a coconut cigar. The kids’ ice cream comes with malva pudding and a delicious caramel sauce.
A selection of handmade petit fours of peanut and caramel macarons, citrus delight, and Valrhona chocolate truffles will bring the festivities to a close.
The Christmas lunch menu is available at R725 per person excluding wine and R925 including wine pairings with each course. The menu for children under the age of 12 is R250.
