New Steenberg Rosé teems with the fragrance of spring

Steenberg’s coral pink Rosé, a frisky new wine from this acclaimed Constantia cellar, is an unbridled expression of spring in your glass.

A burst of watermelon sorbet, rose petals, rosemary and thyme, the maiden Steenberg Rosé 2016 is a gorgeous blend of Syrah(72%) and Cinsault(28%). Refreshingly crisp with a mouthful of raspberries, wild strawberries and hints of spice, this dry, fruit-forward Rosé is a trusty spring and summer companion. It’s perfect for picnics, light lunches and sundowners, so be sure to keep a bottle or two in your fridge.

The Steenberg Rosé 2016 sells for R80 at the cellar door. For more information visit or join the conversation on Twitter @SteenbergWines and Facebook at

As a perfect pairing, Executive Chef Kerry Kilpin at Steenberg’s Bistro Sixteen82 in Constantia, recommends her signature grilled chicken salad as her personal favourite for the Steenberg Rosé.

This dish can be prepared as follows:

Grilled Chilled Salad
2 chicken breasts – seasoned and pan-fried on medium heat
Mixed salad leaves
1 goats cheese chevin log
½ packet mange tout julienned
Toasted pumpkin seeds

Raspberry Vinaigrette
1/3 punnet raspberries
30ml raspberry vinegar
1 tsp Dijon mustard
2 sprigs of fresh thyme
60ml sunflower oil
30ml olive oil
10ml sugar
Pinch salt and black pepper

For the vinaigrette, blend all the ingredients together, adding the oils last and season to taste.

Arrange the salad on a platter and drizzle the dressing over the top with a good grind of black pepper.

Serve with a chilled glass of Steenberg Rosé and share with a special someone.
